I am a writer and editor. I earned my B.A. from UC Berkeley and my Ph.D. from UCLA where I trained in feminist science and technology studies. I write on the topics of: race, place, and technology; knowledge and inheritance; motherhood and daughterhood; language and refugee life.

My work has been recognized by awards from the Fulbright International Institute, the US National Science Foundation, TinHouse, PEN Emerging Writers Fellowship, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, and Hedgebrook. My writing has been nominated to the Pushcart Prize and recognized as notable in the Best American Essays anthology.

I am the American-born daughter of Vietnamese boat people.
